Pemba is the nearest international airport to Ibo Island which is situated in the South of the Quirimbas National Park, Mozambique.

You can fly to Pemba via Johanesburg, Nairobi, Dar Es Salaam and Maputo. The three airlines flying into Pemba are LAM (www.lam.co.mz), South African Airlink (www.saairlink.co.za) and Precision Air (www.precisionairtz.com) all of which can be booked online.

Flying from Dar Es Salaam is probably the easiest route to fly to Pemba. Increasingly Dar Es Salaam is becoming just like Nairobi, a hub in terms of number of airlines flying through from all over the world. Check whatever convenient airline is flying to Dar Es Salaam from where you are and then connect directly to Pemba via LAM (www.lam.co.mz) and Precision Air (www.precisionairtz.com).

Alternatively, you can fly to Pemba via Johannesburg Johannesburg is probably the largest hub in Africa, serving the whole world you will not have problems in finding your favourite airline flying there. Once in Johannesburg South African Airlink and/or LAM flights operate daily to Pemba. This route offers favourable connection times and flexibility.

Flying from Nairobi from Europe is probably the fastest route to fly to Pemba. Kenya having been a very touristic country for many years, it is the largest Eastern African hub, with flyghts coming from all over the world. Check whatever convenient airline is flying to Nairobi from where you are and then connect directly to Pemba via LAM.

This can be a convenient route if flying from Lisbon, Portugal in Europe or Luanda, Angola. LAM flies to from Maputo to Pemba daily, with two flights on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

There are several flights daily from Johannesburg to Maputo, operated by SAA (South African Airways) and LAM (Linhas Aereas de Moçambique). British Airways (operated by Comair) also offers daily flights from Johannesburg to Maputo. These and other airlines such as Kenya Airways, Swazi Express Airways, TAP Portugal, Qatar Airways also fly from Durban, Swaziland, Dar es Salaam, Harare, Nairobi and Lisbon and Doha.

Tip1* If you make a telephone booking with LAM and will not be paying for your flight until check-in you must reconfirm the flight 72 hours before departure or they are liable to cancel it.

Tip2* After checking in you need to get a tax stamp on your boarding card. For internal flights the tax is 200 Mts and for International flights 500 Mts to be paid in cash.
